Context

nl/minato is a citizen-led learning platform operated by SHIBAURA HOUSE in Tokyo, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Minato City. In the Netherlands, numerous initiatives explore updating social systems—covering topics such as the environment, urban planning, new ways of living and working, sexuality, and the intersection of community resources and art. This platform introduces those initiatives to a Japanese audience.

Approach

For the 2019 programme, themed “300 Days Around the Future”, participants were invited to attend events throughout the year. The main visual, inspired by space travel, featured a futuristic illustration. The leaflet was designed to resemble a passport, and participant merchandise—including bags and flight tags—evoked the sense of a journey. This approach created a playful experience, building excitement and anticipation before the events began.
