Visual Identity
Context
The Tokyo Culture Center is an organisation dedicated to promoting contemporary Japanese culture abroad, while also introducing and supporting international artists in Japan to foster a valuable creative community. As a newly established organisation, the initial focus was on building broad domestic engagement, requiring a brand image that is contemporary, refined, and trustworthy. At the same time, with future international expansion in mind, incorporating design elements that convey a sense of Japanese identity was also a key consideration.
Approach
Based on the concept of a “HUB”—a place where people, ideas, and events intersect to spark new initiatives—we developed the visual identity. The logo design incorporates elements of traditional Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship while maintaining a minimal and delicate appearance. In addition, anticipating both domestic and international use, we also created custom type designs in both Japanese and English.
